{"id":64,"date":"2014-07-25T22:07:16","date_gmt":"2014-07-25T22:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev1.trapezewebstudio.com\/?page_id=64"},"modified":"2026-08-23T14:23:53","modified_gmt":"2026-08-23T21:23:53","slug":"past-champions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.stmoritzisc.org\/?page_id=64","title":{"rendered":"Past Champions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Over the years, our skaters have earned 39 National titles at the U.S. Championships, U.S. Junior Championships, U.S Adult Championships or U.S. Collegiate Championships.\u00a0 We also have skaters regularly participating in the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships as well as the National Excel Festival &amp; Final, National Solo Dance Final, and the National Showcase Competition. Our first national champion was Robert Scott in 1937.\u00a0 At the 2009 U.S. Adult Championships, Julie Keith and Mike Ricigliano retained their title in Championship Adult Dance, making it seven in a row. More recently, Alysa Liu became the U.S. Ladies Champion in 2019 and 2020.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Alysa Liu earned her first World Championship title in 2025 and went on to become the Olympic Champion in 2026. She has become a national icon for our sport and has plans to continue her competitive journey for the coming season. Kristi Yamaguchi was our first World and Olympic Champion. She led the sweep of the World medals by the United States in 1991 and then earned the Olympic and World titles in 1992. She went on to a very successful professional career and continues to represent the sport of figure skating with grace and dignity. Rudy Galindo won the World Bronze medal in 1996, the same year he won the National title in a thrilling performance at the San Jose Arena. Our club member, Devin Wang, was a member of the Haydenettes Synchronized Skating team that earned a Bronze medal at the World Synchronized Skating Championships in 2013 and 2016. Alysa also won the World Bronze medal in 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>In 2020, Alysa won the Bronze medal at the World Junior Championships, joining Rudy Galindo and Kristi Yamaguchi as World Junior medalists. Rudy earned the Silver medal at the 1986 World Junior Championships before becoming the World Junior Men\u2019s Champion the following year in 1987.
