Coaches
In keeping with the standards of many youth sports organizations, schools and recreational programs in America today, U.S. Figure Skating has implemented coaching requirements, background screening and continuing education requirements to help ensure that we are providing a safe environment and protecting the welfare of all participants in U.S. Figure Skating-sanctioned activities. There are various requirements that all coaches must complete prior to being eligible to coach at U.S. Figure Skating-sanctioned events, which include St. Moritz test sessions and club sponsored competitions.

Please note that the St. Moritz Ice Skating Club does not currently hire any coaches for on-ice private or group instruction. Our rink partners, the Oakland Ice Center and Tri Valley Ice Dublin, are responsible for developing their Learn-to-Skate programs and hiring the coaches to teach the group lessons. Most coaches also provide private instruction as independent contractors with the rink. St. Moritz does provide a Coaches’ membership, which includes U.S. Figure Skating membership, for skating instructors. In addition, we check that all coaches who participate in our test sessions and sanctioned competitions or other sanctioned activities have met U.S. Figure Skating requirements.
Officials
The St. Moritz Ice Skating Club is the designated home club for many U.S. Figure Skating Officials. See a list of those officials.
Training Support
Because we recognize how essential a strong community of officials is to any club, the Board of Directors is pleased to make available some funding for the partial reimbursement of expenses incurred in trial judging or training/education of officials. We welcome applications from trial judges seeking appointments in all disciplines and for those training as officials in other areas (e.g., technical panel, accounting, music, announcing).
